August 27, 2015: Baked Goods & Guns

Designer: Jane Henderson
From: Cross Stitch Crazy Magazine #193 (Sept '14)

Working on Ronnie's Winchester. Clearly miscounted for the spacing. However where the point in the muzzle and the back of the stock stop, is luckily how for the piece is.

Life Adventures today. Off to the city to finalize paper work for the apartment. *nervous*

August 24, 2015: Last Pattern Splurge

This will be my last FUN IN THE MAIL cross stitch post for the year now that all my monies are tied up else where. Will be a good thing though so I can actually get on track (? Hopeful face).

Iced Tea to be stitched on Jazz. FYI if anyone is interested in buying Steeped Tea, let me know. I am a consultant.

Love the witches brew. I have a couple others & once they're done I might group them all together.
This Wisdom will be stitched on Dill. I think it will be a Christmas gift but I'm not sure for whole yet.

Wonderful World came across as rustic enough for the cabin - so I may set it up for that later on next year.

Snapshot will be for the Camper. I'll remove the word June though. Stick shift is a requested piece for a teacher's EA. SHE requested it...haha, not that the kids think her wicked ;)

And another witchy stitch for me. For down in the laundry room.

These 2 bookmarks were inexpensive and I loved the prefab ribbon designs on them. Little flower holder girls are cute to.

This Am I worked on Dino DNA but forgot to bring the blue with me when I came back from lunch.

August 23, 2015: Spooky Tree Complete

Tada. Done.

This weeks goals will be to finish off Crumble & do a couple animal advent ornaments. I've printed off the patternsand have the colours needed for the floss picked out.

It's going to be a hectic week. I know there's something tomorrow but I can't recall what. Tuesday night is dance AGM. Wednesday I need to get a police chec done for the landlord of the apt I'll be renting for my eldest son. I still need to come up with enough money for the full 1st mths rent. I have the DD and part of the rent..... But I'm panicking a bit as I'm trying to come up with 2 mths worth of wages in a weeks time.

FYI if you ever thought govt jobs pay lots - it's a farce. As a PM provided facility I have to pay rent & bills out of my own pocket. Once that is done, the amt left is $8 less then what min wage is here in Alberta. And w/ no benefits. 6 yrs and still no benefits.

Thursday i travel to the city; hand over the info sheets & give the dd to the landlord. *fingers crossed she gives me the keys that day.* it would be so much more helpful if I could start rounding up furniture for him early.

There's something Friday....can't remember that either.

And somewhere in there I have to go down the school and enroll the kids/ sort their schedules for this year.

August 22, 2015: Spooky Tree The End is Nigh

Jack O'Lantren is coming along. I got the hat finished, and the right side w/stem all stitched in tonight. I didn't do more as I took the girls to Westlock for the AgFair. I picked up some threads while out to work on more of those Animal Advent ornaments though.

As you can see, The dark orange on the left side is where I started the other day. It's also where I lost count and haven't yet frogged out. That will be tomorrow's task. Then all that's left is the base.

As mentioned before, I used glow in the dark floss for the whites. So when the lights go out....muwahaha!

August 21,2015: world of Crumble

I have found Man-Child an apartment. He's spent the last 8 months living on the street w/ his posse of miscreants. Of which he has slowly figured out will do him no good in the long run. I *really* hope this will be the turn around point for him. A place of his own will mean now he can find employment. He's looking into returning to school to finish off his grade 12 too.

Hubby's been sick for the last mth. He spent the last 12 days home - spreading his germs around and now we're sick too. It finally got to me last night. I won't lie. I'm a little bitter. The next few weeks are going to be busy for me and I sure as hell don't want to be sick for my birthday. Time to drown my nights in NyQuil produced freak show dreams. I've gone through 2 pots of tea today already and beside having an angry bladder - I'm still feeling more light headed and cold. Too bad I can't just wrap up in a blanket at work. I've only had a few customers today.

Tomorrow the kids want to go to the AG Fair in Westlock. Suppose to be a midway & they want to ride til they puke. Shouldn't be long haha.

Not much stitching done today. Focus was off, miscounted on Spooky tree & as I wasn't in the mood to do frogging I Just worked a bit on the table portion of "Crumble". I've blocked off a section as mono colour usage drives me nuts. End of next week is my feasible goal for completion I suspect.

August 20, 2015: Hobbit Menu Complete

Sound the horns of the deep dwarfs! Gather round the tavern in the Shire!!! The Hobbit Menu has been finalized. Granted there's still the last bit of finding a frame and hanging it in the kitchen but for all important parts - the stitchery has been accomplished.

August 17, 2015: Moan Able Mondays

Thankfully it's nice an sunny outside today. We spent the weekend camping w/ hubs friends and it rained the whole time. It was deeply chilled and depressing to not see the sun. Kids were miserable & the dogs weren't much better.
The friends were testy too. The wife wa upset because she thought I deleted her from FB. I in turn thought it was she who did the list cleanse. Misunderstanding in the end - reestablished names on lists & were moving on. Hubs and pal relived their glory hockey days & early bar excursions....😑

I left after a bit as the details of the stories tend to change and it's more BS then I can handle. So Hiding out in the camper I got a bit of stitching in on the Hobbit menu, until the skein I brought ran out & some of the Spooky Tree.

Customers are all in cranky moods today too. *le sigh* going to try and finish off the spooky tree. I've only got the jack o lantern & base left to go.

August 11, 2015: Scatter Brained

Today was audit & performance review day @ work. Oi! (>~<) I don't know how well I'll do but I at least vented a bit and hopefully the message coming from a different person will have push as my words get lost on my boss. *sigh* now to just get customers to do the survey to give me points of positivity. All they have on file are complaints (from as far back as when I first took over the office 4 yrs ago). *I* know my customers are happy -mostly- but corporate doesn't & they're the ones keeping points and scores.

So while my mind flitted about with all that & the frustration corporate scheduled an IT tech to come during my lunch hour (so I had to sit and wait for this guy to show up) only to have him not show in the end after all. Not even a call!
Positive work bit: they FINALLY!!!! Approved my new hire. Only 3 weeks later then I actually needed her to be approved *scowl* I was suppose to start her training on the 21st of July. We've already cancelled our BC trip. Thanks Corporate.

Stitching was just as non committal as I bounced around these 4 projects.

More lattice work on the Hobbit Menu:

Started doing the blue blocking of House Rules:

Also using 828, the beginning clouds of Harvest Helper (finished off his pants too):

Started Spooky Tree & decided this will come with me this weekend to be my camping stitching.
The glow in the dark thread is thicker than the dmc & doesn't have a smooth flow through the hole so I think I will wait til I have all the other parts done first. Then finish off with all that for the white.

July 23, 2015 - Chicken Fun-in-Mail

I've pulled out the 3 Chickens piece and have been working on the 1st position hen. 3rd position hen still needs her back stitching and body white. Hen 2nd position needs her body white, so I'm waiting to do all 3 at the same time.

We will be going camping this weekend. Our first time out this summer. I'll have to go into my WIPs drawer and find a couple smalls to put into the camper.

Both my 123 Stitch and Etsy orders came in this morning.

These leaflets were from a seller on Etsy. I have ideas for recepients. The iguana, I would do for my mom. Perhaps as a tribute piece for Big Guy. Her iguana who passed a few years back.
The biblical piece might wind up as a church charity donation for their auction. Or I may forego the scripture altogether, stitch the couple & add a poem to the bottom.
The Hummel children I thought looked like little native kids, with their rounded faces - which would make them a perfect pair to do for my sons birth mother - who just had another 2 children. I haven't decided though for sure as we are on a civil/stormy relationship with that woman.

Walk Softly looks to be the masculine pair for the Earth Mother piece I have on the go....but is a forever UFO.

The middle cloth is a pale green. I know I picked these for a reason...but it wasn't for any of the patterns I got in this bundle so I'm not sure now.

The Cat-atude will be for one of 2 customer ladies. Both have strongly hinted at wanting a piece stitched for them and the mention of cats. I may just do it twice but in different colours.

Mitten collector will be either for one friend...or another. It's a toss up. I may just wind up doing the Collector & Friends up in a similar finishing method. Neither are really pieces I'm driven to do multiples of.

I thought the little kokeshi friends one was adorable. It will go perfect in my bookcase shelf with all my Asian themed books.

Again, the photograph makes it had to distinguish but the cloth is a ecru w/ a darkened embossing. The Trees and Me pattern display model shows it on a  light blue-green cloth with similar patterning emphasizing the leaves/sky shadowing. I couldn't find a blue so this ecru one will have to do.

And a bundle of Anchor. I couldn't remember what the reason for these was as I normally buy DMC. They don't even match up to the patterns I've shown here.....then, as I was sorting flyers for the boxes, I remembered! 💡Oh! Mary! A customer (Mary) has a thing for the boxer breed of dogs. She currently has 3, + other dogs, on her farm. I have a pattern in one of my magazines that is a row of boxer dogs that I thought would be prefect for her. That pattern calls for anchor these brown shades. Mental mystery solved. 😊

August 9, 2015 - Edgar Allen Poe Ya'll

🎶 Flow like Poe: MC Lars 🎶

This will be my next start up. To be stitched on Barnwood Aida & I am swapping out the white for glow in the dark white floss.

Normally I don't include life connected photos, but someone pointed out it that by not doing so, makes these postings impersonal and boxy without heart. So I've added a few accentuating snapshots.

It's been 2 weeks since the posting. I'll take it to mean I've actually been participating in this thing called summer. 😉 weekends have been busy. This weekend we went to the movies: FYI "Vacation" is not a children's movie. It may have children shown in the trailers & may depict a family trip gone poorly, but it's all curse words and sexuality. I took our  15 yr old girls and they were disgusted and their consensus was "that was beyond so wrong" & "there isn't enough soap to wash that out of my eyes". I pity (& was angered by) the parents who took their young kids in, ignored the 14A rating and now have to explain to their 8 & under children what a Rim job is & how yes....that is what a mans penis looks like.   We only went because Paper Towns wasn't showing anymore & the girls didn't want to see Fantastic 4 with the guys. The boys at least had a better time with their dad.

Saturday we attended a Show n Shine hosted by J&J PitStop. I entered my bike Sprout. Hubs & I Watched the draft horse pull, took in the parade & later fireworks with the kidlets @ the Rochester Fair.
Work is bland during the week.
Last weekend I went for a nice long ride on Sprout on Sunday
And attended Lac La Biche's Pow Wow Days on Saturday.
And spent holiday Monday in the city driving aimlessly around looking for apartments with/for the eldest boy. Who still struggles with finding his place in life. 💔 I feel sadness for him.

The weekend before that we were camping. No stitching was done that weekend despite picking out some smalls.

Today's truck ride down & back to the city for the movies did give me time to have more stitched on the Hobbit Menu. I added the 2 breakfasts and all the side decorative stitches. There are still 2 suppersto go. Hubs wants to take a photo once it's framed & in the kitchen to bring to work and post in their lunch room.

I received a reminder email today letting me know the date I am eligible to donate again (Based on what I donated a couple weeks ago) & congratulating me on reaching my 13th donation.
This falls just after my birthday and our annual paint ball game. Anyone want to make an afternoon of it with me? 😉 Only 4 mins to fill a bag & 15 to get my veins to stop giving. Lol.

It's a shoddy picture but it's of the Apple orchards pinup girl. She will be stitched on this Chocolate milk Aida and yes, more beads.

These 2 Stoney Creek collection pieces will be both stitched on Confederate Grey.

Another Frosted Pumpkin to add to my collection. I decided I won't do the pdf versions anymore from them as I always forget to print off copies before their download codes expire so then I wind up paying for something I don't have. I have 8 such projects. Ones I can't finish unless I repurchase them.

A super cool find! Glow in the dark Aida! Just looks like normal white, but after having direct light on it for a bit it gives off a good glow.

Along with these 2 "get ready for chilled times". The blurry photo is called Winter Circle and features snowmen. When it comes time to stitch it I will post a clearer image.

Other fun things: my financing went through and I was approved. I let the seller know, Heritage HD cut her the chq and I am now the proud owner of a solely acquired credit building loan 👍🏻....oh ya, and a new-to-me XL883L 2011 HD.

Sprout has a new driveway buddy.

Took it for a test drive last night....there's a bunch of things that need to be fixed/changed before I can safely ride it. The previous owner had at least 5inches on me so all the controls, windshield & seat are set for a tall woman. Until then I shall continue to ride Sprout ❤️. (A 2011 Suzuki S40) it's just the angle of this image, they're not the same size bikes. The HD has a much larger & longer tank. It's windshield is also 4 inches taller. The tank size is the reason behind getting it in the 1st place. I love riding Spriut, but with a 4.5 gallon tank I don't get very far & trips need to have fuel stations considered. The HD (previously named Fire n Ice....yet to be renamed by myself) hold twice that Amt & will get 250/km approx. Sprout gives me 173km....but I usually fill up every hundred clicks.

Additional items I'll need will be new grips (I'll get the same as I just put on Sprout) & will either use the saddle bags I just bought (pictured) or get another new set so both bikes have a set. I will need a new seat as well. This ones too far back. I have an idea of what I would like, just not the cash flow atm. Next riding season perhaps.
I've already put on the bicycle bell I do with all my bikes & the seller gifted me a demon bell so that's already hanging on the crash bars to rattle free any demons from the engine.

Outlander ( April Smalls)

I caught the 1st season of Outlander onto last year and was hooked. I’d made a generalized post about it and had a bunch of friends and fami...
